Oftentimes when home visitors enter a new relationship with a family, collaboration and engagement can be challenging. In this course we will take a look at some of the ways we can understand and connect with families through their journey of support. The participants will spend time exploring some of the different family structures that exist in today’s society. We will learn about strategies we can use to effectively meet families where they are.

After completing this course, the participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate understanding of various family structures
• Describe collaborative practices that can benefit home visitors and families
• Identify new tools to intervene with families
• Compare and contrast different engagement tools and their purpose
• Demonstrate empathy with families
