An Overview of Processing Emotions in Primary Care (PE-PC)

Description

Building resilience through innovation includes providing access to effective interventions following trauma in primary care. Processing Emotions in Primary Care (PE-PC; formerly known as Prolonged Exposure for Primary Care) has demonstrated effectiveness as a brief (4-8, 30-minute visits) PTSD focused intervention designed for the primary care setting (Cigrang et al, 2017). The presentation will provide the research background and development of PE-PC. Beginning with an overview of PE-PC research in military, veteran, and civilian settings. In addition, Dr. Rauch will present on session content and some brief training videos describing key session skills. She will highlight PE-PC visits with training videos demonstrating the key skills. Attendees will be encouraged to consider use of PE-PC in their practice setting and will be informed of how to connect to training resources for full training in the model.
